Tonight, over in Kiev, it`ll be interesting who Jose Mourinho selects in the midfield slots.

In Saturday, against Aston Villa, Mourinho gave Reuben Loftus-Cheek a rare start, but the youngster was substituted, at half-time, in what was called as a tactical switch, with Nemanja Matic replacing the youngster.

Ahead of the tie with Dynamo Kiev tonight, in the Ukraine, Jose has elaborated on the reasons why Reuben was hauled off when many of the Chelsea support thought the youngster was doing okay.

It seems that Jose didn`t quite share those views, remarking to the media,

“Loftus-Cheek has to look at the intensity and the defensive tactical work that Ramires and Fabregas did, and he didn`t.

“And just try and compare himself with others and understand why I didn`t keep him in the game for ninety minutes.”

Fair enough, the criticism seems to be of the constructive variety, but what about Matic who, from being an automatic starter last season, has also found himself in and out of the starting eleven?

Discussing the Serbian, Jose had this to say,

“Everything is fine with Matic. I try to make him choose the decisions where it is harder to make a mistake.

“When you are a little bit fragile, make it simple. Think quick, make the right decision. Take the ball out of the pressure zone.

“Don`t be worried about making a beautiful pass. Just make sure you don`t lose the ball, because if you do, you lose confidence.”

Keep it simple in other words!

But will both start tonight or will the boss turn to Matic purely because he`s the most experienced player of his type?

Your thoughts on the subject matter would be most appreciated.
