Chelsea move to secure right-back goal-machine, says Express
Chelsea has offered Super-Serb Branislav Ivanovic, 31, a big new deal, the Daily Express claimed late last night.
The right back who can`t stop scoring has been offered a bump from £65,000 a week to £90,000, writes Tony Banks.
The deal is for 12-months – Chelsea policy for players aged 30 plus.
José Mourinho has made no secret of his huge regard for the special Serb – not least for scoring over 30 goals – including some lifesavers – for the Blues since he arrived from Lokomotiv Moscow in early 2008.
Recently, the guvnor called Ivanovic one of his best-ever signings – and his goal against Villa one that would have made any striker in the world proud.
One of Branna`s most important strikes was one of his latest, against Paris Saint Germain in the cauldron that was the Parc des Princes.
That invaluable away goal at the end of a dazzling defenders-only sequence – Terry cross, Cahill first-time flick, Ivanovic header from six yards – means Chelsea need only a goalless draw to go through to the last eight of the Champions League in Wednesday night`s 2nd leg at the Bridge.
Though let’s hope it doesn’t come to that or this writer won’t be the only one flirting with a cardiac arrest!
Much better? The Super-Serb celebrates his new deal with his 32nd strike in Chelsea blue.
