No Chelsea Spark Without the Birthday Boy

Yesterday, against Norwich City, after a poor first-half, Chelsea huffed and puffed with a little more endeavour in the second-half.

However, despite their endeavour something was missing from their play, that something being the magic that Eden Hazard our jewel-in-the-crown, brings to the side.

With a hectic fixture schedule, as Chelsea continue to chase success on four fronts, Antonio Conte decided to leave Hazard back in London, believing those he had selected for the game, could do the business.

As it turned out, they huffed and puffed but to no avail.

When pushed, in his post-match interview, about not selecting Eden, Antonio was a little defensive, remarking,

‘With these players we scored five against Stoke when you play Willian and Pedro they are creative players. We found a bit of difficulty we tried to win the game.’

But Stoke were poor, very poor, Norwich City were always going to be up for this encounter, believing, as the game wore on, they could snatch a shock victory.

Now, I`m happy to accept that Eden Hazard, when a club is looking to play 50-60 games a season, isn`t going to play every game, its physically impossible with the number of times the Belgian international gets kicked by the opposition.

However, it`s plain to see that a Chelsea without Hazard are far less effective and toil at times to create, basically, nothing.

Two interesting facts I`d like to include about Hazard before finishing this article are that Hazard, when it comes to the Premier League, has been involved in 100 Premier League goals, since arriving at Chelsea, scoring 63 and providing 37 assists.

The second fact is, today is Eden Hazard`s birthday, many happy returns Eden from all at Vital Chelsea.
