Pair Shevchenko with Drogba!

In our last poll we asked you, our readership, to vote for you preferred striking partnership.

Naturally, the most expensive signing in the clubs history figured in the majority of the options available. However, with the question biased towards Chelsea opting to play a 4-4-2 formation next season, we also included an option whereby you could state your claim for Chelsea not to play 4-4-2 but the favoured option of last season 4-3-3. This option polled 9% of the vote indicating that over 90% of you would be happy to see Mourinho switch to 4-4-2.

With four options left to discuss, it`s probably not too surprising that the Shevchenko and Drogba polled the highest percentage of the vote with 48%. Despite Drogba`s apparent insistence that he`d like a move away from the Premiership, his displays in the last few weeks of the season have convinced the support that he really could develop into the finished article.

Surprisingly, the gap between the options voted into second, third and fourth places was minimal. In second with 16% of the vote were Shevchenko and Crespo, a partnership that if it were to come to fruition would replicate the AC Milan front pairing of two years ago.

Whether Crespo sticks around long enough to resume his partnership with the Ukrainian international is currently the subject of much debate. Hernan has intimated that he`d like to return to Italy but if the club are not willing to release him would be prepared to stay. Make of that what you will.

In third place with 14% was the duo of Shevchenko and Gudjohnsen. Sadly, with Gudjohnsen seemingly on the move to either Manchester United or Barcelona, with Barcelona once again the favourites, it isn`t going to happen.

In fourth place with of the vote was the Shevchenko – Kalou pairing. With Kalou having recently signed from Feyenoord and arriving with a glowing reputation, the temptation is there to throw him in at the deep end. Indeed, his goal record in Dutch football is good but then again I recall another striker arriving from Dutch football, Mateja Kezman, of which great things were expected. Therefore, I`ll reserve judgement until later in the season when we`ve seen what the youngster can do.

Once again we`d like to thank you for your continued support as we strive to make this site the unofficial site to visit on a regular basis.
