There’s no doubting who Chelsea’s No.1 shot stopper is of all time. Those of a certain age may have tremendous affinity with Peter Bonetti. He was this writers favourite, for sure. However, over time another Peter, minus a ‘e’, muscled in on ‘the cat’s’ standing as Chelsea best keeper.
Petr Cech was immense during his Chelsea career. Of the 14 major club trophies he has won, 13 of them were achieved whilst playing for Chelsea. Last season’s FA Cup win over the Blues, his only medal with the north London club.
A defeat today, at the hands of Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United side has seen the Czech Republic international receive some internet verbals on Twitter.
Petr Cech worst signing of the Emirates era? We paid £10M for Chelsea's finished backup keeper who has cost us more points than won us points

A lot was made about Petr Cech being worth 10-15 points to Arsenal when he joined, if anything that’s how many points he costs them a season. Needs replacing.

Petr Cech is one of the worst keepers in the Prem. Not even under debate
— Lee Warren (@LeeWozza85) April 15, 2018
It’s not all bad though, we know Cech is one of the good guys. He could be an ideal second choice keeper if Arsenal are going to ‘bin him’. He’d be more than welcome back at the Bridge. Despite his detractors, he’s still a decent man.
The only players to come over and clap the away fans was Rob Holding and Petr Cech. Players need a look in the mirror.

Of course a Chelsea fan had to have their say
Petr Cech still helping out Chelsea, while not playing for Chelsea. Thanks you legend x @PetrCech

Cech was sold to Arsenal as a token reward for his sterling service with Chelsea, he didn’t want to leave London. In the same way Olivier Giroud was allowed to transfer from Arsenal to Chelsea in January. Thanks Arsenal.
