Petr Cech Will Always Be Loved At Stamford Bridge

|

There’s no doubting who Chelsea’s No.1 shot stopper is of all time. Those of a certain age may have tremendous affinity with Peter Bonetti. He was this writers favourite, for sure. However, over time another Peter, minus a ‘e’, muscled in on ‘the cat’s’ standing as Chelsea best keeper.

Petr Cech was immense during his Chelsea career. Of the 14 major club trophies he has won, 13 of them were achieved whilst playing for Chelsea. Last season’s FA Cup win over the Blues, his only medal with the north London club.

A defeat today, at the hands of Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United side has seen the Czech Republic international receive some internet verbals on Twitter.

It’s not all bad though, we know Cech is one of the good guys. He could be an ideal second choice keeper if Arsenal are going to ‘bin him’. He’d be more than welcome back at the Bridge. Despite his detractors, he’s still a decent man.

Of course a Chelsea fan had to have their say

Cech was sold to Arsenal as a token reward for his sterling service with Chelsea, he didn’t want to leave London. In the same way Olivier Giroud was allowed to transfer from Arsenal to Chelsea in January. Thanks Arsenal.
