Back in the days when the last transfer window was open, it seems Chelsea were after a full-back in a deal that didn`t end successfully.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea had aspirations to sign the Paris Saint-Germain full-back, Thomas Munier.

However, a deal to sign the 26-year-old Belgian international didn`t materialise with the French Champions refusing to do a deal.

Munier, speaking about the situation, is quoted by our source as having remarked,

‘On the last day of the transfer period, they made an offer to Paris but I know it was no.

‘From the club, they didn’t want to sell me – because we have two right-backs, with Dani Alves and me, it was difficult to sell one.’

And asked as to whether he wanted to move to Chelsea, Meunier further added,

‘I didn’t really think about it because they called me in they told me ‘you will not move at all so don’t think about Chelsea or another club, you will not move so you stay in Paris and we are counting on you for the rest of the season’.’

An opportunity lost for both parties methinks!
