Rafa`s Meddling Continues!

Our interim manager continues to baffle the Chelsea support with his substitutions.

Once again, last night with Spurs in town for a crucial fixture, Benitez chose to remove two of our most influential players, in Hazard and Oscar (although perhaps we`ll forgive him for the Hazard one seeing as the Belgian had a recurrence of his calf problem) bringing on Moses and Benayoun.

The introduction of Benayoun brought the inevitable barrage of insults from the home support as the Liverpool love-in continued. Quite how Rafa feels Yossi can bring something to the table when the game was crying out for somebody of the ilk of Lampard to shore the midfield up or Terry to bolster the defence, continues to baffle not only me but thousands of others.

As it turns out we were left to rue the fact that our poor finishing, particularly in the second half, cost us the chance of sealing, once and for all, a vital Champions League qualification place.

After the 2-2 draw, Rafa gave his thoughts on the game to the media, commenting,

“We had the chances to score the third goal and finish the game. We had control and then had three or four counters we had to finish.”

“And for their goals – we could do better. We gave them too much time and space to decide at the first goal.”

“Then the second goal was offside but still we have to defend better.”

“Now we must think about winning the next game at Villa.”

“We have to manage the players, manage the squad and see if we can do well.”

Heavens above, is he contemplating giving decimating our best eleven to bolster his CV with a Europa League trophy and then risking all in the home clash with Everton?

I wouldn`t bet against it, would you!
