Spurs Trail Us Again!

The three points earned against Manchester City, on Saturday, have ensured that Champions League football will be on the menu next season.

In three short years we?ve progressed from having to beat Liverpool to qualify for Champions League football to being the first to do so in the Premiership this season.

I suppose three years ago I?d have been jumping into the air celebrating the fact that Chelsea would be playing amongst Europe?s elite next season; however, I can?t help feeling that now it?s just taken for granted.

Hell, I can recall a little further back, in 1994, and being ecstatic that, despite losing to Manchester United in the FA Cup Final, we?d be playing in the Cup Winners Cup, I guess we?re now just spoilt or are we?

Perhaps going from the sublime to the ridiculous doesn?t sit very neatly with those of us who experienced more lows than highs, those of us who experienced the nightmares of relegation and those of us who wondered if Ken Bates could actually Save the Bridge.

Deep down I half expect it all to go horribly wrong at any moment, after all wasn?t that what we were used to?

Now things are different, adopting a change in attitude to what is going on at Chelsea; is something all us die-hards will have to cultivate. Therefore, whilst I originally suggested that celebrating for the Champions League this early almost seems surreal, think of it another way.

Just look down the table and smile accordingly, after all we?ve finished higher than Spurs again!

Isn?t life sweet?
