Ok, please read the following very carefully. I also want you to comment below with whatever you feel like saying in response to this article. After all this is a place for Chelsea fans to discuss the team and the various current affairs we are experiencing.

Right. This article could quite easily end up being contradicting so I will apologise for that now, just in case. I am writing this straight after reading the Match Report Comments and not making notes or doing drafts.

We don’t know the full story.

Put simply, the above statement could be the entirety of my article but I will explain a bit further what I mean.

There are numerous things going on at the club that we know nothing about.

For instance, Carlo might already have been given the boot and is just ‘care-taking’ until a replacement is found.

Roman might already have sanctioned £50million to spend in the window.

A number of the players might still be protesting on the pitch about Butch’s departure.

We don’t and never will know the full story.

Although saying this kind of defeats any point in debating topics and saying how we feel, I believe it is time we stopped with the pointless comments. See below as an example.

WE HAVE OUR FECKING BEST TEAM OUT THERE, YET WE HUFF AND PUFF TO LOOSE AGAINST WOLVES. tell u what, i’v no idea what should be done, and judging from the body language of our players they have no idea. the worst culprit is the manager. using the same line up, formation and subs for 3 months, even though it aint working. HE IS CLUELESS AS TO HOW TO SAVE OUR SEASON

Now, the poster even admits he has no idea what should be done. He is correct in highlighting that our best team was put out there and they failed to do a job. Ancelotti gets paid to pick a team and a set of tactics. If 11 of the best footballers in the world, indeed, 10 Premier League medal winners, 11 National team representatives, cannot do their job then I fail to see how it is Carlo’s fault.

If we were asked to pick our starting 11 from the squad that went to Wolves, I bet that a lot of you would’ve left our Anelka – Carlo did that. You would’ve started Bosingwa on the RB position ahead of PF and Iva – Carlo did that. You would’ve probably played an almost identical 11 to the one that was put out there. Anyone who reckons they would’ve played 2 or more players differently is lying.

The point is, Carlo IS doing his job. The players aren’t.

Look at the situation he finds himself in.

The board decide to get rid of Wilkins, Carlo’s best friend at the club (after Mauri and DeMichelis, I spose). He was the main translator between players and himself. He was probably the main ‘voice’ inside the dressing room, discounting players. He was the Steve Clarke to Mourinho. He got the players going. When the club decide to get rid of him and replace him with a scout, how would Carlo have felt?

Another thing we don’t know enough about are the player’s contracts.

I’m sure when signing contracts players get clauses put in them to determine a minimum number of games they must play in order to sign it. Look at Deco last year, look at PF this year. With this added pressure, Carlo must have to play players when he doesn’t want to, otherwise contracts won’t run properly.

I am not saying Carlo is innocent or not at fault at all. I do believe that his tactics have been found out and the 4-3-3 he plays is not working.

Tomorrow I will write up an article about how I would play our team if I was manager. Of course this small sentence completely contradicts my article above as I said it would. Therefore I understand how attacking some of the comments below will be. Also if any of the information I’ve stated above is factually wrong, please by all means correct me!!

🙂
