There was good news for England yesterday when John Terry was pronounced fit for duty.

After undergoing a scan on the injuries suffered against Manchester United, it was pleasing to hear that there was no ligament damage and that John will be fit for World Cup duty.

It appears that the tackle, by Rooney, that inflicted a wound requiring three stitches had no other adverse effects. Also, the ankle, which John twisted in the second half, has only a swelling and thankfully no other damage.

However, although John is fully fit at the moment, but not available for selection for the Newcastle game on Sunday, we here at VITAL believe he may report for World Cup duty with a few minor injuries.

Reports that John has gone away for a few days were dispelled when it became apparent that he would be visiting Cobham on a daily basis to keep himself in tiptop shape. Also, there is the impending birth of his offspring to consider.

Toni, his delectable partner, is due to give birth to twins later this month and it here where John may well find himself pushed through the pain barrier. It is here that John may find that childbirth can also be painful for expectant fathers.

No doubt you can all recall those anxious moments when your own partners were given that vital command to give it one last push.

Those sat around you offer words of encouragement and the natural thing is to whisper words of encouragement into your partners ear whilst simultaneously letting her hold your hand. It is here that, we feel John should perhaps heed our words of advice.

The pain and squealing your partner emits during childbirth will drown out any yelps of pain you emit as your fingers are crushed and your neck strangled by a partner who you didn’t know possessed such immense strength.

Therefore don’t be surprised if John turns up for World Cup duty with a couple of fingers strapped together and a sore neck, it’s par for the course!
