That Hansen Attack

Nothing gets my back up more than sitting watching highlights of the football only for so-called pundits to offer their conceited opinions.

Perhaps my back is put out by the fact that most of these pundits have never carved out anything near a respectable career in management with the majority having had their services dispensed with quite abruptly.

But, after the Liverpool game, I did find myself nodding in agreement with a certain Alan Hansen/

Okay I may have laughed loudly when the former Liverpool defender had the rumoured accident with the candle wax but when he remarked post the Liverpool defeat,

“Chelsea were incredibly lucky to stay in the game for as long as they did. I can only describe some of the defending I`m witnessing as catastrophic.”

“Luiz hasn`t got a clue how to defend in a flat back four. Playing so high up is a disaster waiting to happen.”

“Terry`s made more mistakes in his last eight games than he has in the last eight years.”

I could only agree.

There were two instances in the first ten minutes when our high defensive line was caught out by some incisive Liverpool passing and with regards to Luiz and his defending I`ll not argue.

His forays up forward leave the somewhat leaden-footed John Terry (who at times looked as if he was wearing lead boots and running through treacle) exposed and any side willing to pour numbers forward are more than likely to out-number what remains of our defence.

As for the Terry mistakes, I could argue that being left manning a gaping hole in the centre of our defence might have had something to do with that but, on this occasion, I`ll simply doff my cap to Mr Hansen and admit that the gist of what he has said is perfectly right!

On this occasion he can wax lyrical and I`ll not argue!
