The CFC Board ‘gift’ that keeps on giving

As N’Golo Kante pulled up injured in the first half of France’s game v Bulgaria on Saturday, the Chelsea faithful spared a thought for the CFC board.

That thought went something like:

‘With friends like you, Antonio Conte doesn’t need enemies.’

As if each stellar performance Nemanja Matic puts in for the hateful Reds isn’t enough of a slap in the face for The Don who so opposed the transfer – or to the Chelsea faithful – here comes a self-inflicted hole in our midfield. A hole the size of the gulf in class between Kante and his old friend and likely replacement Danny Drinkwater (pictured above).

It amazes me how much petty ‘he said, she said’ argument there is around borderline issues, while the 100% bare-faced straightforward way in which the CFC board have hung our brilliant manager out to dry seems immune to debate or discipline.

Fer chrissake, these suits and frocks are KILLING us!

At the end of every successful season it’s the same debilitating déjà vû, as these board directors seem to think that all the credit is theirs, while manifestly, tragically revealing their awfulness.

The victims of that awfulness? The manager, the squad, the fans.

Cockeyed decision after cockeyed decision – made worse by backdoor spin to the media blaming the manager – handicaps us after every single successful season.

And while brilliant managers are disgracefully flicked away like pesky fleas, the same old second-rate faces continue their abjectly ignorant and ineffective string-pulling in the boardroom.

Never not ever is a single director so much as threatened with firing – even when it’s crystal clear right now that Mr Abramovich urgently needs a full scale clear-out of these second-raters.
