It`s not often that where you sit means too much for a football game. Stamford Bridge offers some great views not just for those 2 metres away from the pitch.
When ordering tickets for games I prefer to be in with the atmosphere either in the Shed or MH, they may designate the East or West as the singing stand but they`ll never match the Faithful for volume.
So after having to wait for the Members +1 section to open online, I was surprised and relieved to have nabbed some tickets in the west side of the Matthew Harding Lower. Row GG right up the back!
As the great article yesterday mentioned, today is the anniversary of that terrible helicopter accident. It felt right, then, to be sat cheering on the Blues under the watchful eye of the man himself. No doubt he was singing along with us last night!
After a few quick pints in the Pelican I met up with timcfc in the SO bar. Couldn`t even hear each other due to the chanting so a handshake was a worthy second best. Managed to miss BlindJak but it was a good night for Vital Chelsea introductions all round.
The game was great, we weren`t able to start slow because of the attacking Madrid team against us but we matched the pace and our chances started to rain down on the Spanish defence. Some great chants later and we heard the Bouncy song start up, worrying that even after arrests it`s still being sung.
The breakthrough came as always when I went out for a toilet break. It happened against Burnley, West Brom and again last night but I wasn`t fussed. A half-time lead was needed. Grabbed my gourmet burger and chips (hadn`t eaten since lunch) and went back for the second half. Itching for more goals and some action I didn`t have to wait long. The corner for Kalou`s second was fantastic, right in front of the MH fans.
Two more goals at our end and some great chanting for Joey Cole, it was great to see Studge and Yuri get a run-out. The game ended and we filed out of the stadium, was asked to swap my True Blue scarf for an Athletico one but couldn`t bring myself to do it. It was our night I`m afraid my Spanish compadre, so I`ll take the scarf and the 3 points!
