Last night, at the strange time of 21:00 hours UK time, the draw for the 4th round of the Carabao Cup was held and, just as we predicted in our referenced article, Chelsea will welcome Frank Lampard and his Derby County side to Stamford Bridge.
Lampard, who has settled well into his first managerial role at Pride Park, led his Derby side to a memorable win at Old Trafford, against Manchester United in the 3rd round and will be looking to do something similar at the club where he enjoyed a remarkable career.
The tie will be played in the week commencing 29th October and will be sure to generate numerous media column inches, tickets will be scarce as the home support prepare to welcome back to Stamford Bridge their all-time record goal-scorer.
It’s bound to be an emotional night for Frank but one, we reckon, he’ll be eagerly awaiting, suddenly, the Carabao Cup has come alive.
