Today, against Manchester United, Danny Drinkwater stepped into the midfield alongside N`Golo Kante.

In my opinion, the former Leicester City midfielder had one of his best games in a Chelsea shirt.

After the game, interviewed by the MOTD team, Drinkwater responded to a series of questions.

On the game itself, Drinkwater remarked,

‘We definitely deserved more, first half we were dominant. First half was more even, but we didn’t deserve to lose that match, no way.

‘Obviously there are bits we can improve on, first of all we can improve on not conceding, and scoring more goals, but football can sometimes go against you and today’s one of those days.’

And on the disallowed goal from Morata, Drinkwater added,

‘I’ve not watched it back – was it onside? It’s one of them, we’ve just got to look forward to the next game now.’

And on Spurs edging ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League table after their last-gasp win against Crystal Palace earlier today, Drinkwater further added,

‘I didn’t see Spurs’ game, I was concentrated on ours, but it’s down to us now, we have to get our results in order and hopefully the other results will look after themselves.’

Exactly, starting next week against Manchester City!

  • DD is a decent player, on his day capable of running a game from midfield . I like the way he is prepared to shoot from distance, reminiscent of Frank in that respect at least. As fans we should all get behind him as good players can develop into great players in the right environment, for example playing with better team mates, feeling confident and appreciated. Personally I will always back any Chelsea player who tries his best
