World Cup Chelsea Dig.

Did you notice Robin Van Persie run a yard then fall down of his own accord against the Ivory Coast? The most blatent dive of the world cup so far – but where were the screeches of indigantion? Directed at Robben, of course. Van Persie scores and plays well but Robben is best player on the park and turns in a man of the match performance, its just that all anyone is interested in is that he got booked for diving. Half the Dutch team were throwing themselves on the ground, Cocu being particularly odious, and yet who gets slaughtered for it?

England playing badly? 909 inundated with calls from nearly everyone it would seem, to drop Frank Lampard and Joe Cole, despite both playing better than most in their games so far. Admittedly Lamps hasnt been at his imperious best, but Joe has looked dangerous and lively in both games. Gerrard has been no better than Lampard, and missed the same number of chances. But, as usual, one goal later, and he is saviour of the world and the best player on the planet. The calls to drop Lampard are deafening. Nothing to do with him being Chelsea surely?

Man of the Match performance from John Terry – absolute stormer of a game, two crucial blocks, solid tackling, and a massive clearance off the line. Where is the recognition that he is, and has been, England’s best player? Absolute silence. Makes you wonder about beanpole boy Crouch, having missed all those chances and looked a very long way from World Class in both games, trying to over elaborate and lacking anything even remotely resembling a first touch. If he was Chelsea he would have been publicly villified and hung drawn and quartered.

Shevchenko flagged offside wrongly a couple of times against Spain but was isolated as Ukraine were overrun in the middle of the park. Suddenly he is a waste of money and symptomatic of why Chelsea are ruining the game, because they are spending so much money on players that are clearly, well, sh*te. Shevchenko at Milan = Legend. Shevchenko at Chelsea = overpaid fat waster who couldnt hit a horse’s arse with a banjo.

Essien an absolute collossus in the middle for an explosive Ghana side, man of the match against Italy, and the midfield destroyer of the Czech Republic. Best single performance of the World Cup so far by any player, does he get lauded in the press? No. Not a dickie bird.

Crespo enjoying a fantastic World Cup – scoring goals and being one of the key figures of an awesome Argentina side. Where is the praise? Where is the recognition? If he was Liverpool he would have been given an OBE and the keys to the City by now.
