A Time for Morata to Shine

Tottenham Hotspur are the visitors to Stamford Bridge this Sunday, a side who haven`t won at our ground since 1990.

Now I realise that record will end one day, but hopefully not this Sunday as Chelsea seek to keep their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League, next season, well and truly alive.

At his pre-match press conference, held on Thursday, Antonio Conte spoke about a number of topics.

As seems to be the norm these days, Conte spoke highly about the opposition, remarking to the assembled hacks,

‘We are talking about a really good team with many talented players and a really good manager.

‘I have great respect for Tottenham. They have grown a lot and now are one of the best teams in England.’

They may / might (delete as you feel appropriate) be, but until they`ve stuck some major silverware in their trophy cabinet, there will always be doubts about their status.

Continuing though, Conte predicted that our striker, Alvaro Morata, could be set for a key role as the 2017 / 2018 season comes to a climax.

Morata started the season excellently, but his form fell away as he struggled with niggling injuries. But, last time out against Leicester City in the FA Cup, despite supposedly suffering from a lack of confidence, Morata scored a splendid goal and nearly scored with an audacious back-heel that would have been a contender for goal of the season.

Speaking about the Spanish striker who needs to finish the season with a flourish to get back into the Spain squad for the 2018 World Cup, in Russia, Conte remarked,

‘He has been working very well, and he needed to work hard.

‘Now he is really fit and is ready to have an important end to the season for Chelsea.’

Hopefully, that important end to the season will get kick-started with the winning goal against Tottenham thereby keeping that 28 years, at home, unbeaten record.

How about it Alvaro?
