After the dirge served up by the senior squad it was pleasing to see that the England U21 side were more prolific when it came to producing some entertainment.

However, it has to be said they surely couldn`t have fared worse than Gareth Southgate`s lot!

Last night the England U21 side faced a Scotland U21 side in what was deemed to be a ‘Battle of Britain` showdown.

The England U21 side managed by Aidy Boothroyd, beat their Scottish counter-parts 3-1.

The first goal was scored by the Tottenham youngster Josh Onomah, (currently on loan at Aston Villa) who produced a wonderful dipping shot from thirty yards.

Leading 1-0, the England U21 side doubled their lead when, Tammy Abraham tumbled in the penalty area, although to be perfectly honest it did look like Tammy tumbled over his own feet.

Abraham took responsibility for the spot kick and duly scored.

Scotland reduced the arrears when Chris Cadden pulled a goal back but Dominic Solanke, who Chelsea sold to Liverpool in the summer, extend the England lead to 3-1.

Abraham`s contribution to the England win also saw the youngster, who is currently on loan at Swansea, have an effort cleared off the line.
