Now being paraded on the football transfer market as being for sale, it remains to be seen who Diego Costa ends up playing for.

The first club to step forward to actively seek to sign the Brazilian born Spanish international striker is AC Milan.

However, it seems the Serie A side have been put off, according to the news source the Telegraph by the wages the striker commands.

Although the Italian club are under new ownership, it seems they`re baulking at paying Diego the £200,000 a week he craves.

Carrying on down the same route, the tabloid publication, The Sun, carries the suggestion that Chelsea may seek to loan the player, obviously waiting to see if Atletico Madrid make a move once their transfer ban is lifted.

With the manner in which Diego has been jettisoned seeing stories emerge that Chelsea could lose as much as £10 million from a potential transfer fee, it seems that a loan deal could also be costly.

Our referenced tabloid is quick to suggest that Chelsea may be forced to pay a part of Diego`s wages to force a loan deal through, surely not!

What a can of worms we`ve opened.
