I didn`t think it would take too long for the tabloid press to get hold of the reputed text message Antonio Conte sent Diego Costa and I`ve been proven to be correct.
Lurking in the sports pages of the popular UK tabloid The Sun, but reputedly pulled from the pages of the Spanish news vehicle AS is what the tabloid claims to be the twenty or so words text message Conte sent the striker, it reads as thus:
“Hi Diego, I hope you are well. Thanks for the season (sic) we spent together. Good luck for the next year but you are not in my plan.”
Brutal perhaps but down to the point.
Our referenced source suggests that having received the text message, Diego Costa simply replied,
“OK”
Now whether Diego was expecting the news and simply acknowledged it or whether he was too stunned to reply anything but okay, only Diego knows, but it goes to show that Antonio has a ruthless streak and perhaps that`s what`s needed to rise to the top of the managerial tree.
