With the domestic season set to be put on hold for a couple of weeks, with the international scene set to once again dominate, we`ve good news relating to one of our squad.

Previously, on other international breaks, Marcos Alonso has cut a lonely figure down at Cobham, training whilst most of his team-mates have disappeared off on international duty.

Since joining Chelsea, from Fiorentina back in 2016, Marcos has proven to be an inspired acquisition, raiding up and down the left-flank whilst also showing his expertise from set-pieces.

His contributions in our 2016 / 2017 title winning season were greatly appreciated by all, but an international call-up still eluded him.

But that all changed yesterday when Marcos was selected for the Spanish squad for the upcoming friendly fixtures against Germany and Argentina.

With his father and granddad having achieved international status, I`d imagine that Marcos is a happy chap this morning.

Let`s hope he gets the chance to play.

Elsewhere in the Spanish squad there was a place for Cesar Azpilicueta but Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas were omitted.
