Sometimes it?s hard not to laugh when you see a story on the back page of a tabloid. Today was one such day.
There it was, in black and white, ex-Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino spouting on about how some professional footballers are breaking the FA rules by placing bets on the results of other matches.
Now if this was coming from a source other than Tony Cascarino I?d be seriously worried that the media would put two and two together and come up with Chelsea. After all they?ve already latched onto the fact that several of our player?s like a flutter on the horses.
However, I can?t take anything seriously from someone who played numerous times for the Republic of Ireland, indeed taking part in World Cup tournament at the pinnacle of his career, but later admitted, I believe in his autobiography, that he had no divine right to play for the Republic, not through birthright, grandmother, grandfather or even the obligatory pint of Guiness.
