Rumours that Chelsea defender, Ricardo Carvalho, could be moving on this summer have been further fuelled in recent days.

Speaking to reporters, Carvalho is quoted as saying,

?It is good to know that I have great clubs interested in me, but I am not going to talk about whether I will be staying because that would be of no benefit to me.?

?Clearly I am not happy about not playing and people are now talking about that.?

Carvalho, who has not featured since Mourinho reinstalled the supporters favoured central defensive combination of John Terry and William Gallas, is clearly reluctant to speak out of turn.

After having been the recipient of disciplinary action after an outburst earlier this season, the Portuguese international may be being slightly more diplomatic on this occasion.

At twenty-seven years of age, Carvalho probably has four or five years left at the top and would make a valuable acquisition for any top European side. However, with Gallas hopefully now firmly entrenched alongside Terry, his opportunities at Chelsea may become somewhat limited.

Whilst accepting that Carvalho is a class act, I can?t help feeling that Chelsea could be caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.

With rumours also circulating that William Gallas is being courted by Juventus, could it be that Mourinho has opted to seduce the more versatile Gallas whilst at the same time accepting that he may lose a player who has followed him around Europe but who at times he has, reportedly, had a troubled relationship with

I guess only time will tell!
