Even as a native of the land of Machiavelli, Antonio Conte must wonder what kind of snake-pit he`s wandered into.

Not satisfied with his take-over of an ailing unit that ended mid-table in 2015 and his incredible feat of dragging it to the summit, who knows what kind of clowns and backstabbers have instead conspired to turn what should have been a priceless time of momentum-building into a minefield for the coaching genius and CFC fan favorite.

Nobody (not even the genii and telepaths in the comments section below) knows what our brilliant manager has had to face at Stamford Bridge and Cobham in terms of demotivation and interference, but we can clearly see the general atmosphere as it has unerringly made its way from the shadowy corporate corridors at SW6 into the media.

Every day a new, unpleasant rumor, the brunt of which has been a snaky old CFC board chestnut, “The manager is losing the changing room blah blah hiss hiss.”

(If only there was somebody on the premises with a full UEFA coaching badge ready to step in and end the palpable discord hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!)

Well, any such nightmarish garbage was finally and well-and-truly kicked into touch on Sunday at Wembley.

Whatever Chelsea`s performance v the pretenders from North London may have reflected, above all it reflected a less-than-packed or fully fit and ready Chelsea squad ready to give their all for the man who must currently be regarded as the world`s greatest manager.

This was of course only the second game of the season; such a transcendent effort – with Champions League and Cup games also coming up – would, of course, leave Conte`s Army exhausted by Christmas.

Which makes the next eight days among the most crucial in recent CFC history for those in charge of transfers.

Unless these people step up and help the Blues with some key additions, every true Chelsea fan will be expecting to read about their resignations on September 1st.

Spensierato.
