After the best season of his career, Super Frankie Lampard enters the World Cup looking for his marvelous run of form to continue.
With Rio Ferdinand having been ruled out of the World Cup, due to injury, and Steven Gerrard taking over the captaincy role, Fabio Capello has decided that Frank is the perfect choice for his new vice-captain.
Speaking about the appointment, Frank remarked to the media, assembled in South Africa,
“I am vice-captain,’
‘I was told by the manager and (assistant) Franco Baldini yesterday (Friday) and I am very proud of that.”
‘Obviously I am very disappointed for Rio. He is a mate.”
‘But what can I do? I shall just try to give my input as a vice-captain.’
Could another injury, at some point in the competition, see Super Frankie Lampard captaining England to possible World Cup glory?
