Chelsea Close To Appointing Managerial Dream Team

|

According to speculation appearing in the media this morning, Chelsea are close to revamping their managerial set-up.

Although Antonio Conte is still, officially, the Chelsea manager, his future has been shrouded in doubt for several months.

It now appears that the Italian who has led Chelsea to two trophies in his two seasons with the club is set to be axed.

The news source, the Independent, is claiming that Chelsea have decided that Maurizio Sarri is the next person to occupy the hot-seat.

Our referenced source is inferring that Sarri’s agent, Fali Ramadani, will hold talks with Napoli to secure his release from his contract with Napoli.

It’s a strange situation considering Sarri has been replaced by our old friend Carlo Ancelotti at the club.

But, it appears Napoli still hold his registration.

Furthermore, another source, the Sun, is reporting that a former Chelsea legend, Gianfranco Zola, could also be making a dramatic return to Stamford Bridge as Sarri’s assistant.

On paper, it looks to be a good partnership, however, that is until you consider that neither Sarri or Zola has won a major trophy in their managerial careers.

For Sarri, it will be his first venture into English football whilst Zola has had experience in a managerial role at both West Ham and Watford.

If the speculation is correct, I can’t help feeling that Zola is being brought in to appease the supporters who continue to back Antonio Conte and who believe Conte should have been given better support last season when it came to transfers.

But, what’s your opinion on a possible partnership of Sarri and Zola?

Does it bring a smile or a grimace to your face?
