Regular visitors to Vital Chelsea may recall, a couple of weeks ago, we ran an article relating to our young midfielder, Conor Gallagher.
Our article talented-chelsea-midfielder-gives-the-club-a-huge-decision-to-ponder covered the emerging speculation that Chelsea might cut short the season-long loan deal that had seen Gallagher move to Charlton.
At the time or writing our conclusion was that Chelsea would be better off leaving Conor where he was rather than recalling him and then loaning the 19-year-old to another Championship club, after all the midfielder was doing exceptionally well and had, in 26 appearances, scored 6 goals.
Unfortunately, it seems our views weren’t agreeable with those of the club with The BBC confirming that almost immediately after Chelsea had ended his loan deal at Charlton, he was subsequently then loaned to Swansea City for the remainder of the season.
Quite why remains a mystery.
The only reason we can see is that Chelsea would prefer him to be playing for a Championship side chasing promotion as opposed to one fighting to stay clear of the relegation battle.
