Chelsea Face Opposition For Ideal Defensive Purchase

|

In recent days’ the summer transfer grapevine has been alive with the speculation that Chelsea are looking towards Spain to solve their problematic left-back spot.

The player, reputedly, under the spotlight is the Real Madrid defender, Sergio Regulion.

Last season, the 23-year-old was acknowledged as the best left-back in La Liga but, surprisingly, remains surplus to requirements at the La Liga champions after impressing while out on loan with Sevilla.

However, it would appear that Chelsea, according to Di Marzio face stiff competition to secure the signature of Regulion with Lazio also in the market for the defender who Real Madrid want €25 million for.

With Chelsea building a squad to match the best in the Premier League, I feel that Regulion would be a smarter acquisition than Ben Chilwell and could follow in the footsteps of some fine Spanish full-backs we’ve had, namely Cesar Azpilicueta and Albert Ferrer.

Perhaps Frank needs to have a persuasive word or two with the player.
