Faced with 29 breaches into the rules governing the signing of foreign U18 players, it comes as no surprise that Chelsea have appealed against the charge leveled by FIFA.
The prospect of not being able to bring in any new signings until at least January 2020 isn’t something we’d like to contemplate.
Although it has been mooted that it would give Chelsea the ideal opportunity to bring some of their young starlets through, the possibility also exists that a two-window transfer ban could see Chelsea’s place among the elite of English football suffer.
Therefore, we’re not exactly surprised that FIFA have admitted that Chelsea have appealed against the charge.
However, whilst accepting they’ve received an appeal from Chelsea, FIFA are, at the moment, unable to confirm when our fate will be decided.
All we can do is sit tight and hope that the appeal is successful otherwise it could be a bleak few years.
