Reports emerging in a popular tabloid publication suggest that Chelsea Football Club are interested in a young Spanish defender.

According to the good folk of the Daily Star, Chelsea are taking a keen interest in Jorge Mere.

The 19-year-old centre-back is currently on the books of Sporting Gijon and has a release clause in his contract of £25 million,

Already the teenager has played for the Spanish U21 side and reports suggest he is tipped to become a full-international soon.

At just 19-years-old Mere has already made 50 appearances for Sporting in La Liga.

Sporting Gijon have mere under contract until 2020 but their precarious position, in La Liga, could see them forced to sell the talented young defender.

Valencia are also said to be interested in the youngster as well.
