Chelsea Linked with Colombian Defender

A lot has been made this season of the fact that Chelsea`s title hopes have been boosted by the fact they have not been involved in European football.

Now that may be the case but with European football returning next season we`re sure that Antonio Conte will be taking the necessary steps to bolster the squad accordingly.

One position that the pundits are suggesting will need reinforcing are that of the wing-backs.

Whilst no criticism is being directed at Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso, the feeling is that the role is so demanding, charging up and down the touchline all game, the side would benefit from being able to call upon others, at times, to play the role.

Yesterday, lurking in the pages of the Sun on Sunday, in their transfer gossip column, was the inference that Chelsea are one of several Premier League clubs looking at the Colombian right-back Santiago Arias.

Arias, is currently on the books of PSV Eindhoven and a regular for club and country. At 25-years-of-age, he`s rated in the £12 million bracket and eligibility for a work permit would be no problem after four years with PSV in Holland and a further two with Sporting Lisbon in Portugal.

As for the other Premier League clubs interested in Arias, look no further than Swansea and Sunderland, no contest then I`d suggest!
