Chelsea Linked With German International Defender

|

With no sign of the Premier League season resuming, the mainstream media has a lot of column inches to fill.

To do so, they seem intent on concentrating on transfer speculation, some of which I’d suggest is emerging from the land of fiction.

This morning, flicking through the numerous sources available to us, I stumbled across something lurking in the pages of The Daily Mail.

It infers that Chelsea are interested in adding to their defensive ranks and are looking at the possibility of luring the German international defender, Jerome Boateng, to Stamford Bridge.

The speculation is based upon the fact the player is set to enter the final 12 months of his current deal and there is no sign of a new deal being struck.

Also brought into the text is the fact Boateng may be a little miffed at his current situation at the Bavarian club after being fined for breaking the coronavirus guidelines relating to essential travel.

But Chelsea are not the only club linked with a possible move for Boateng with Arsenal also getting an honourable mention.

Unfortunately, sat here in the editors’ chair, I don’t give much hope of the deal being done.

Boateng is 32-years-of-age and would command a big salary, is that a strategy our club are willing to pursue, I don’t think so.

But is that a view you concur with?
