Chelsea Linked With The Acquisition Of A Montenegro International Defender

|

With the World Cup now underway, uncovering transfer speculation becomes a little harder as the media concentrates its resources on the huge football festival.

However, one snippet of speculation has come to the fore.

According to the news source, Sky Sports, Chelsea are interested in the Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic.

Savic, 27-years-of-age, has played in England before having been on the books of Manchester City, with whom he won the Premier League title in his only season with the club.

The last three seasons have seen him perform in La Liga, after joining Atletico Madrid from Fiorentina.

Chelsea are not the only club interested in the Montenegro defender with our source implying that Juventus are also after acquiring the player.

However, you have to ask yourself whether Savic is any better than the central defenders already on the Stamford Bridge books.

Is he a better performer than the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, Antonio Rudiger or Andreas Christensen?

We’d suggest not.

Or would he just be an expensive addition to an area of the team that is well served when Chelsea should be looking to improve other areas?

We’d say most definitely.
