Here’s a shocker. It`s being reported in The Express that Chelsea are looking to send Ruben Loftus-Cheek out on loan, in order to get some first team action. There doesn`t seem to be much in the way of substance to the story, but to be honest, would anyone be surprised?
Loftus-Cheek made his debut in 2014 but despite this has still failed to make an impression on the first team. The article believes the midfielder is the one of the best prospects to emerge from the money making academy.
Possible destinations for Loftus-Cheek are two of the newly promoted teams Newcastle United or Brighton & Hove Albion.
If this turns out to be the case, and he can`t get into this Chelsea team, you really do have to wonder what the point of the academy is. Apart from, as has been discussed here, a money making machine that turns out profitable average players. It`s sad.
