When I was a kid my favourite Chelsea player by a long way was Peter Bonetti. When I played footie, because I was a rubbish outfield player, I tended to end up in goal. There`s the affinity. During Chelsea`s recent run of successes It`s been great to see a Chelsea keeper shine.

With little else to do, I`ve been having a think about why we`ve just signed Willy Caballero from Manchester City on a one year deal as back up for Thibaut Courtois. Being such a short contract, this makes me wonder if we are paving the way for the return of Petr Cech from Arsenal next season.

Looking at the stat site Transfermarkt Wojciech Szczesny has just returned from a successful season on loan at Roma, which has seen his value soar. Cech on the other hand is valued at half of what we sold him for.

Based on those stats, you would have to believe Szczesny will be this season’s No.1 keeper at the Emirates. Would Cech prefer to sit on Arsenal`s bench, or back at Chelsea, where we know his heart really lies.

I don`t think it`s any secret that Chelsea would take him back. Maybe, it`s written in his contract. Likewise, I think it`s a given that Cech himself would want to repay us for allowing him to go to Arsenal in the first place.

The slight fly in the ointment of this plan is, that back in February, The Express quoted Cech’s agent as saying he would see out his contract which runs until the end of the 2018-2019 season. Despite that, I still think there`s a real possibility of this happening. How do you feel? Would you welcome Petr Cech back? Please comment in the box below.
