Whenever I go abroad, I make a point of never hiring a car, especially if the country I`m visiting drives on the wrong side of the road.

There`s enough idiots behind the wheel without me adding to the carnage.

Therefore, I can understand that when footballers move to the UK, there can be problems adjusting to a new driving culture and driving on the opposite side of the road.

Yesterday, our summer signing, Tiemoue Bakayoko discovered that driving on the left hand side of the road, as opposed to the right hand side, can be fraught with danger.

Leaving the Cobham facility after training, the 23-year-old, veered of the road on Blundel Lane and ended up in the bushes.

Thankfully, the midfielder was unhurt but his car suffered a broken windscreen and a crushed roof.

The Police attended the scene and confirmed there were no other vehicles involved and issued the following statement,

“Surrey Police attended Blundel Lane in Oxshot around 4.40pm today following a one vehicle collision. The driver did not suffer any injuries.”

As for the danger of becoming accustomed to driving on the opposite side of the road, the popular tabloid publication, The Sun, carries a few comments from Tiemoue`s brother Namory, which read,

“Tiemoue told me he wasn`t allowing himself to drive because he thinks it`s too crazy driving on the left! But he`ll get round to it.”

The unfortunate midfielder is, we understand, resting ahead of taking his place in the squad for the trip to take on Stoke City at the BET365 Stadium.
