If anyone doubted that football was awash with money, then they`d do well to read on.

The good folk of Deloitte have released their figures which show clubs revenue for the 2016 / 2017 season, a season which saw Chelsea win the Premier League in Antonio Conte`s first season in charge.

During that season, Chelsea` revenue was an astonishing ?428 million, but it only secured the club 8th place in the top ten, lagging behind three other English sides – Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal, in a top ten that reads:

1. Manchester United: ?676.3m
2. Real Madrid: ?674.6m
3. Barcelona: ?648.3m
4. Bayern Munich; ?587.8m
5. Manchester City: ?527.7m
6. Arsenal: ?487.6m
7. Paris Saint Germain: ?486.2m
8. Chelsea: ?428m
9. Liverpool: ?424.2m
10. Juventus: ?405.7m

Interestingly, the wealth of the Premier League was illustrated by the fact that there were 10 Premier League clubs in the top 20 and 14 in the top 30

Also, the statistics show that the combined revenue of the top twenty clubs combined rose by 6% to ?7.9 billion.

Who said it was a working mans` game?
