Chelsea Reject Derisory Arsenal Bid For Defender

|

Last season was something of a puzzle with regards to David Luiz.

As Chelsea raced to the Premier League title, in 2016 / 2017, the Brazilian was one of the outstanding members of the side, as Antonio Conte ushered in the usage of a back three.

Luiz even played through the pain barrier, defying injuries, to help guide Chelsea the title.

But, last season, the Brazilian was conspicuous by his absence for large parts of the season.

The official line being that he was injured!

Really!

Is this the same player who shrugged off a disgraceful challenge from Sergio Aguero to continue playing?

Or was there another reason as to why David Luiz couldn’t get into the first team?

I guess we’d all love to know that answer.

However, it appears that there is transfer interest in the 31-year-old with the French news source, le10sport, inferring that Arsenal have shown interest in the player and that an offer, said by our referenced source to be of the magnitude of £18 million, has been rejected.

Whether Arsenal will come back with a higher bid or whether Chelsea would contemplate selling David Luiz to a rival remains to be seen.

The possible deal hasn’t gone down too well with some Arsenal fans on the social network sites though, with one tweeting:

Well that suits me fine, on his day David Luiz can be inspirational and, perhaps, his absence played a part in the January / February bad spell when the team seemed to lack leadership.
