Chelsea Striker’s Possible January Departure Now Shrouded In Doubt

|

Recent transfer speculation implied that Chelsea could see one of their trio of central strikers leave Stamford Bridge this January.

The speculation, as covered by Vital Chelsea, wednesday-night-was-probably-the-final-straw-for-out-of-favour-chelsea-striker, suggested that our 33-year-old French striker, Olivier Giroud, would be leaving to quench his desire for regular first-team football, something he’s currently not experiencing with Chelsea.

However, such a move may not be as clear-cut as it seems.

Lurking in the pages of The Sun, is the inference that Giroud could be forced to wait until the summer to exit Stamford Bridge.

It would appear that clubs that have registered an interest in the striker are after a bargain and with Chelsea wanting a transfer fee, they would prefer to wait until the summer and grab the striker on a free transfer.

Personally, I’m doubtful as to whether Chelsea would be prepared to lose Giroud, in January, unless the transfer ban is lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
