We’ve apparently met the £45 million release clause for Neymar.
I think this is a good move in that he will most likely set the Copa America alight with some more brilliant performances. So he will sign a new contract with Santos, his price will rise, maybe a higher release clause and then he will be completely out of our reach.
£45 million is a lot of money but in the long run it will be worth it.
Apart from us four clubs have met the release clause. City want to add to the 10 strikers they have. (Imagine Neymar and Balotelli and maybe Adebayor fighting for one slot!) Madrid and Barcelona want expensive cover and the Russian Club Anzhi Makhachkala are the surprise here.
Come on Pini Zahavi! Get the kid to sign on OUR dotted line! We have Brazilians, so he will feel a bit more at home. The Russian climate would be a shock for him.
He should look at Messi at Barcelona and Ronaldo at Madrid. Both players are given the freedom to do whatever they please on the football pitch.
Why join them and play second fiddle?
He can be the same for us. Our ace in the hole. Our main man. We paid £50 million for Torres, but Neymar does not play in the middle. He can fit with Torres.
Before the ‘What happens to Sturridge?’ arguments start, Sturridge can play on the right or through the center. Signing Neymar will have no bearing on Sturridge’s future.
So will it be Delirium? Will we get him? Or will it be Heartbreak?
Will a player we have coveted for 2 years now reject us and join a bigger club with more history and be prepared to be second choice?
