Lurking in the media this morning is the suggestion that Marcos Alonso is a wanted man.

Our attacking left-back-cum-wing-back, according to the news vehicle, the Daily Mail, is on the radar of the Catalan giants, Barcelona.

Apparently, according to our referenced source, the Barcelona manager, Ernest Valverde, views 26-year-old Alonso as the perfect long-term replacement for Jordi Alba.

Signed by Chelsea, last summer, with the closure of the transfer window looming, Alonso arrived a something as an unknown for those who frequent Stamford Bridge.

His fee, a cool £25 million, had some supporters questioning his purchase, from Fiorentina, however, the Spanish player has had a remarkable eighteen months at Stamford Bridge and has quickly established himself as a fans favourite.

The questions remain though, as to whether Chelsea would be prepared to sell him if the price was right or whether Alonso would view a move to the Nou Camp as a natural career progression.
