Chelsea’s Attacking Options

Having looked at Chelsea`s defensive and midfield needs yesterday, today the attacking options are under review. As it stands, in the striker department, we currently have two certainties.

Michy Batshuayi is currently at the head of the very short queue of contenders. As Alvaro Morata gets up to speed with the Premier League, he ought to take up that mantle. The only other option in the current squad, apart from Diego Costa, is the Frenchman Loic Remy. I`ve no doubt the top two will deliver but they won`t be enough for the tough season ahead. We need at least one more attacking addition.

There`s a lot of discussion on Vital Chelsea about the need for additional wing-backs in the squad. Based on what we have at present, the pressing need is surely up front. While there are not a lot of options in the actual squad at present, the possible targets are also few and far between.

A quick scan around the usual media outlets, barely give any indication of possible targets. Fernando Llorente has long been seen as a target, but even he has dropped off the radar in recent days.

Another name being mooted is Christian Benteke. These really are tough times. I really want to put a positive spin on this but I`m struggling.

The Evening Standard say Chelsea`s chief transfer negotitiator Marina Granovskaia has stepped up her pursuit of their chosen targets. The only striker the article cites is Llorente. This could be good, should it happen. However, like Tiemoue Bakayoko, the Swansea man won`t be starting the season due to injury. Cracking!

Chelsea and Conte have one more option. I`m going to say this very quietly. What are the chances of a reconciliation with everyone`s favourite Spanish/Brazilian. I know it`s going to be shot down, and rightly so, but I`m struggling to see any other choices and the season kicks off Saturday.

If you`ve any possible options please post them in the comments box below.
