The transfer window has now been closed for almost two weeks.

On reflection, I think you`ll agree that it wasn`t a transfer window whereby Chelsea`s acquisitions would have brought admiring glances from the other big-six clubs in the Premier League.

As it turned out Chelsea acquired a promising midfielder who, prior to his arrival, hadn`t played a single Premier League game, plus an ageing striker who couldn`t get a regular place in the Arsenal starting eleven, or Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud respectively.

Now whether Antonio Conte had other names in mind, only Antonio and the board will know.

But, lurking in the media this morning are some interest remarks attributed to Antonio whereby he appears to be slightly rocking the proverbial boat again, by remarking,

‘I have to speak more with the managers who are very, very good at persuading their clubs to spend money to buy top players.

‘I think I’m a bit of a disaster to convince the club to buy players. I think in this aspect I can improve a lot.

‘I have to learn a lot from the other coaches, the other managers, in that aspect.’

However, it remains to be seen whether Antonio gets the chance, this summer, to show an improvement in his disastrous approach or whether the Italian, popular amongst the Chelsea support, will be seeking alternative employment.
