As has frequently been the case over the last decade or so, Chelsea are in the news.

The recent two successive defeats, allied with the fact our defence of our Premier League title has gone awry courtesy of already losing six Premier League games this season, has seen Antonio Conte`s role at the club come under the microscope.

It`s fair to say, if you believe the press, Conte`s position as head-coach is precarious to say the least.

However, with a crucial fixture against West Bromwich Albion to be played tonight, Conte has gone on record to infer that all the rumours relating to his position are not affecting the players, with Sky Sports, reporting Conte`s comments as thus,

‘Honestly I don’t think talk about my future can affect the players.

‘Otherwise from the first game we lost against Burnley, it could happen.

‘I think my players are getting used to these rumours, to this speculation, but for sure I am very happy with the commitment of my players, the behaviour of my players because they show me every day they want to overcome this situation.”

Let`s hope the pressure eases tonight with a win, hopefully an emphatic one against a West Bromwich Albion side anchored to the foot of the Premier League.

  • That’s not fair, Pavel. We have a few in contention. I mean, it’s so easy to manage a team. You don’t even have to spend time with the players. You just look at their rankings, and lump them together.

  • Even the fans are getting used to this kind of rumour. The only thing is that there is hardly smoke without fire.
