With the transfer window set to close in a little over a weeks` time, Antonio Conte has given the broadest hint yet that our young Brazilian, Kenedy, is set to join Newcastle United on loan.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of the semi-final second-leg of our Caraboa Cup tie against Arsenal, Conte had this to say about the deal that is in the offering, with the boss remarking,
‘I think he is going on loan to Newcastle.
‘He needs to play regularly and to go to Newcastle is a great challenge for him. It is a great way for the club, we used same way for Christensen. Now he starts for Chelsea.
‘It is a great opportunity but he knows that he has to be ready to fight to play for Newcastle.
‘Last season in the first six months for Watford he struggled to play, but now he is more ready.
‘He played with us many games and he can show his potentiality.’
In his last appearance for Chelsea, against Norwich City in the FA Cup 3rd round replay, Kenedy was given the man-of the-match award by the Sky Sports team.
It`ll certainly be interesting to see how he gets on at Newcastle.
My feeling is that it could be a make or break loan spell.
