FA Youth Cup Final – Arsenal 0 Chelsea 4 (aggregate 1-7)

|

At the Emirates Stadium last night, the Chelsea U18 side, managed by Jody Morris, produced an emphatic display to win the FA Youth Cup for a fifth consecutive season.

After winning the first-leg, on Friday night at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea were always in the driving seat in this final.

Arsenal knew they had to chase the game but they were never able to get the opening goal that might give them a foothold in this encounter.

In fact, it was to be Chelsea that were to go on and stamp their authority further on the tie when they extended the lead to 4-1 on aggregate, when Billy Gilmour netted after just ten minutes.

Emerging for the second half, the young Blues put Arsenal to the sword with three further goals, Callum Hudson-Odoi netted a brace either side of a goal from Tino Anjorin, to make it 4-0 on the night and 7-1 on aggregate.

The fifth consecutive win means that Chelsea have become the first side since Manchester United, in the 1950’s, to achieve that feat.

Following the presentation of the trophy, the youngsters held aloft Ray Wilkins scarves in memory of the Chelsea legend who passed away recently.

Here at Vital Chelsea, we’d like to congratulate our youngsters on this marvellous achievement.
