It seems that, as Jose Mourinho vehemently promised the assembled media that Chelsea’s business in the transfer market was done, Fernando Torres was putting the finishing touches to a two year loan deal that sees him join up with Serie A giants, AC Milan.

The move is subject to personal terms and the completion of a medical but, according to a number of reputable sources, the deal is all but done.

Chelsea FC’s official website announced it as such:

‘Chelsea Football Club and AC Milan have agreed terms for the two-year loan deal of Fernando Torres to the Italian club.’

The 30 year old never seemed to hit it off at Chelsea but it is evident that Mourinho considers him surplus to requirements. With Diego Costa struggling with a hamstring strain and Didier Drogba nearing 37, where does that leave us in the offensive department?

Does this mean we have a deal in place to sign/loan another striker? Reports have been rife about the availability of Mattia Destro but Mourinho today re-emphasised his stance in the market. Was this move made behind the Special One’s back or was it a Portuguese flavoured mind-game?

What do you think?

Up the Blues!
