For Chelsea It’s All Down To Just How Much Money They’ll Receive And I Hope They Hang On For Every Last Pound

|

After seven glorious years as a Chelsea player, we’re accepting the fact that Eden Hazard’s farewell performance, in a Chelsea shirt, was in Baku on Wednesday evening.

As far as farewell’s go, it was up there with the best of them with Hazard scoring twice in the 4-1 victory against Arsenal, thereby doing his bit to put another piece of silverware in the Chelsea trophy cabinet.

Throughout all the speculation linking him with a dream move to Real Madrid, Hazard has acted in a dignified manner and never once thrown his toys out of the pram or stamping his feet and demanding a move for that he is to be commended.

Like we may have mentioned before, all that remains to be seen is how large a fee Chelsea can get for their most valued asset.

A far as we, here at Vital Chelsea, can make out, the club, as we’d hope, are looking to drive a hard bargain and a fee is yet to be agreed.

On Friday, the news vehicle, the Telegraph were reporting that Real Madrid were preparing to submit a fresh bid for the 28-year-old with a fee of £106 million being mentioned.

Now whether that’ll do the trick remains to be seen.

However, if Real Madrid think they can bully Chelsea into doing a deal then perhaps they should consider the words of their former president, Ramon Calderon, who, as reported by Sky Sports has warned his former club not to expect Chelsea to lower their valuation of the player, remarking:

“It seems Hazard is coming and that is really good news for Real Madrid. I think now it is a matter of money. The player has said clearly that he wants to leave and he wants a new challenge.

“It is not fair to keep a player who has been there for seven years and who has one year left on his contract.”

Hopefully, Real Madrid, seeing as we appear to have realised the end is nigh as far as Hazard’s Chelsea career is concerned, will heed those words and pay Chelsea the players’ true valuation.
