Chelsea announced yesterday that Portuguese midfielder Maniche will not be offered a permanent deal.

The ex-Porto player, who arrived from Dinamo Moscow had hope dot secure a contract with Chelsea but after joining in mid-season, didn?t quite do enough to earn one.

However, the Portuguese international was thanked, by Peter Kenyon, for his valuable contribution in Chelsea securing back-to-back Premiership titles. Making five starts, Maniche was somewhat hampered by being sent off against West Ham United.

Up until that moment Maniche had probably his best few minutes for Chelsea looking dangerous and hitting the woodwork as Chelsea tried to get back on level terms after going a goal down.

In the last two games of the season, Blackburn and Newcastle, Maniche started to look as if he could perhaps forge a future at Chelsea showing some neat touches, However, the signing of Michael Ballack probably convinced those in charge of these decisions that his opportunities would be very limited
next season.

Therefore we here at Vital would like to wish Maniche all the best as he seeks to get his career back on track.
